                                                             NABA Cruise Information

The NABA is proud to offer a unique and spectacular baseball participation cruise vacation experience.  For example, on December 8, 2007, a TEAM USA  (see team picture taken on the ship's top deck sport facility directly below) set sail from San Diego aboard the beautiful 89,000 ton, 4 1/2 star, CARNIVAL SPIRIT on an 8-night journey to Acapulco, Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo, and Manzanillo, Mexico.  In each port of call, our TEAM USA competed against a local 48+ Mexican team in a 9-inning game of baseball.  The December 8th cruise was sold out with a 14 player/coach roster and 24 additional guests (friends and families) combining for a fantastic group of 38 cruise passengers!  During this year's 2009 baseball cruise, we will have not only a 48+ team, but for the first time, we will have a 47 and younger team too!  This year's 8-night cruise to Mexico will begin on Saturday, December 5th and end on Sunday, December 13th.

In December of 2008, an OVER 50 BASEBALL TEAM USA sailed to the Caribbean.  The 7-night cruise departed from Miami on December 7, 2008 to San Juan, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten aboard the CARNIVAL TRIUMPH.  Our OVER 50 BASEBALL TEAM USA played against a similar 48+ team in each port-of-call listed in the previous sentence.  TEAM USA was victorious in all 3 games!

To give you an idea about the baseball experience, you can view pictures from the actual December, 2007 Baseball Cruise to Mexico.  They are posted at the following 3 links. Please click on each of the following 3 city names and then use the "back-button" on your browser to return here:

ACAPULCO  ZIHUATANEJO  MANZANILLO

The picture below is the Carnival Spirit while at anchor in Zihuatanejo bay.  This picture and most of the other pictures further below were taken in December, 2006.  The pictures taken in the 3 Mexican cities listed above and other pictures of the Mexican cruise below represent a sampling of what you could possibly expect on the next Over 50 Baseball Cruise to the southern Mexican Riviera.

The first 3 pictures below include a view toward downtown San Diego from the top deck of the Carnival Spirit, a picture displaying gracious casual dining aboard ship (that's Howard & Tilly Rollin and their waiter), and a picture of many of the entertainers aboard ship.  Is that Howard in the pink & black outfit looking like Tony Orlando?  No, but it's Howard's impression of James Brown.  Now we know what killed the "Godfather of Soul!"  On the last night of the cruise, several passengers joined the Carnival Spirit Dancers, Singers, & Orchestra in the production of "Carnival Legends."

The next 3 pictures display 2 views of the Manzanillo Stadium (with Tilly and a staff member of the local tourism bureau) and a view off the stern of the ship toward the beaches and hotel district surrounding Manzanillo Bay.

The next 3 pictures display the governmental, athletic, and tourism bureau staff of Zihuatanejo (plus Howard) in front of a promotional sign at their ballfield, a view of their quaint baseball park, and a view toward downtown Zihuatanejo from the southern hills.

The next 3 pictures display magnificent Acapulco Bay, plus a welcome sign and the grandstand at the Acapulco Baseball Stadium.

Tilly stands alongside the Carnival Spirit after docking in Acapulco. The magnificent ship is almost a thousand feet long. Lastly, a picture of Howard & Tilly along with a Team USA member at the 2007 gifts and awards presentation aboard ship. Mixing baseball and cruising can turn into one great experience!

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?

Not as much as you'd think! The NABA Over 50 Baseball Cruises (going into its 3rd year of operation) are the most affordable baseball participation cruises sold nationwide (hundreds of dollars less per person than any other baseball cruise). One of the reasons for this is the special Group and/or Military Veterans Discount that is available to the NABA Over 50 Baseball Cruise Program. Even if you're not a military veteran, you will be afforded the opportunity to get the same spectacular discount (or whichever discount is greater), if you will pre-register ASAP. Please note that pre-registering does not obligate you. Then, after pre-registering, you'll receive access to the Official Online Registration Form. You would then be required to make a reservation by paying a deposit which would be fully refundable until September 18th. If you wait to make a reservation, your cost will possibly be higher for later registrations, or you may be "shut out" because the team you wanted to join was already completely filled. Presently, the 48+ team has only a few remaining slots, but there are still openings on the 47 and younger (21+) team. The average age on the younger TEAM USA is approximately 35 years, whereas the 48+ team's average age is 58.

This cost for this year's 8-night baseball cruise starts as low as $725 per person, double occupancy for an inside cabin (no window). If you would prefer a larger outside cabin with a private balcony, your cost is only $180 more per person. Prices for any additional non-playing family or guests are significantly lower. Since a cruise is an all-inclusive type of vacation experience, most of your expenses are included, and that means all of your spectacular meals aboard ship, all of the excellent entertainment provided, a plethora of exciting activities aboard ship, and all of your baseball participation expenses in all three Mexican ports-of-call. The only items not included are your transportation costs from your home to San Diego (cruise port of embarkation), an overnight hotel in San Diego (if necessary), tipping, most alcoholic beverages, and items of a personal nature. However, when you add in all of those additional costs, it's still an outstanding bargain for the baseball trip of a lifetime! You will participate as a member of a TEAM USA in your appropriate age group, representing our country on a baseball mission of good will. Our Mexican hosts in each city greatly appreciate our traveling to Mexico to give them the opportunity to play international baseball against the United States. It's a win-win opportunity!
