NATIONAL
ADULT BASEBALL ASSOCIATION
2008
SPRING
TRAINING EXPERIENCE
TOURNAMENT INFORMATION:
The NABA Spring Training Experience is more
than just a game!!
Imagine yourself
participating in a baseball tournament with a fantasy camp atmosphere,
while being able to enjoy and attend a major league spring training game
at a fraction of the cost. This tournament is OPEN TO ANYONE (NABA
or NON-NABA players) who has played or would like to play any form of
organized baseball (hardball) during your lifetime. Individual
players, friends, families, complete or partial teams are all invited.
You don’t already have to be on a tournament team as this tournament
can cater to the individual player or full teams.
This tournament will place
teams in pools of four in each division. Each team will usually have
(10) or (11) players, which means lots of “at-bat” and defensive playing
time for everyone. Each team will be guaranteed a minimum of FOUR (4)
baseball games (Thursday through Sunday). Each team will play only one
(1) game per day. Most, if not all, games will be played in the
morning, ensuring plenty of free time for each participant to attend a
major league spring training game in the afternoon. The schedule builds
in free time for yourself in the evening as well as time to enjoy NABA
festivities, including a delicious catered sit down dinner on Saturday
evening featuring a baseball guest speaker (in 2004 it was Harmon Killebrew, in 2005 it was Matt Williams, in 2006 it was Clint Hurdle,
and in 2007 it was Don Buford Sr.). Friday and Saturday evening can be
used to spend more time with fellow players, friends or family.
Each team will play three (3)
games in pool play. All teams will enter either a championship game or
a consolation championship game on Sunday for your fourth (4) game.

WHAT RULES WILL THE

The NABA Spring Training
Experience will utilize the National Adult Baseball Association 2008
Rulebook to govern tournament play, with special addendum tournament
rules which are outlined in the Spring Training Tournament Rules. Each
player will receive a copy of these rules upon receipt of a deposit.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN
THE TOURNAMENT?
Because this is an open
tournament format, anyone, including those who do not play in NABA
leagues or tournaments can participate. A love for the game and some
kind of organized baseball experience at any level is all that’s needed
to register. Teams (whole or partial) and individuals from other
established national baseball organizations may enter with no
surcharge. Each individual player fee for non-NABA players and team is
the same as for members of the NABA.
HOW DOES A PARTIAL TEAM
COMPLETE ITS ROSTER?
If a partial team registers
with only 8 players, for example, the tournament director will help
assign players to that team until it is complete with at least 10 or
more players. The tournament will make every effort to place unattached
players on teams from specific geographical areas. The tournament
director will assign players to teams based on the team’s needs.
UNIFORMS, CAPS AND
EQUIPMENT:
The NABA will supply each
player on a team with a 2 button textured polyester uniform, with the
NABA logo on the front and a number on the back. Each player can keep
their uniform as a souvenir from the tournament. As well, each player
will receive an adjustable cap 80% acrylic and 20% wool, with the NABA
logo embroidered on the front to use during the tournament and to keep
as a tournament souvenir. Each player will be required to bring his own
baseball pants, socks, shoes, under-sleeves and glove. Since teams will
be established before the tournament begins, game jerseys and tournament
commemorative shirts will be ordered to fit each participating player.
Those player’s who do not sign up in time may not have a jersey or
commemorative t-shirt that is ordered to fit. Those players who accept
a team manager’s position will be responsible for ensuring their team
has equipment, such as batting helmets and catcher’s equipment. It is
recommended that catchers bring their own gear. If a particular manager
has issues acquiring team equipment, we will have two or three extra
sets of equipment that a team can sign out for the tournament.
