2009 Spring Tryouts

Tryouts for the 2009 baseball season for the Dakota Ridge Baseball Association are set for Saturday, January 31, 2009 and Sunday, February 1, 2009 for 8 year olds through 13 year olds.

DRBA will also have a 2009 baseball season for Midget players ages 5 through 8 years old.  All 8 year olds must go through tryouts.  Any 8 year old player not selected for the 8 year old "0" level team will be placed on an 8 year old modified pitch team in the Midget program.

Exact time and place for each age group will be updated as soon as it is determined.

All level 1, 2 and 3 coaches must submit who they will be retaining and who they will be placing back into the tryouts and draft by January 7, 2009.

As a reminder to all coaches and parents regarding the rules of DRBA.   Team continuity is an important element of DRBA. For age groups 10 - 14, all 0 League (Majors) and 1 League (AAA) teams must retain a minimum of 6 players and a maximum of 8 players from the previous year, while 2 League (AA) teams may retain 9 players maximum and 3 League (A) teams may retain their entire team from the previous year.  This is done to enable room for improving players to move to a more competitive level if they choose to do so and also to provide an opportunity for players new to the area. The coach also may recall players placed in the draft after the tryouts and prior to the draft should the player want to return to the previous year's team.  Teams that have fewer than the required minimum returning will not be allowed to remain as a team and all players will be placed into the tryouts/draft. The President or Baseball Director will make a determination whether the coach will be reassigned to a team or not.

Dakota Ridge High School Baseball Program Fund Raiser

An Open Invitation from Coach Jeff Legault

Dear Players, Parents and Dakota Ridge High School Baseball Supporters:

With baseball only a few months away, it is time to start fundraising.  We have already started new projects on our baseball field, like scraping and putting new sod on trouble areas of our field, and building a new concession stand and press box.  We still need to order a new set of uniforms, purchase hats, and order our necessary equipment for 2009.

For the past 12 years we have operated a Christmas Tree lot as a means toward fund raising for the baseball program.  However business has slowed the past few years and the work load on players, parents and coaches was overwhelming for the time of year.  In lieu of selling Christmas Trees this year, we are going to host the first annual "DRHS Baseball Bowl-A-Thon," for a fall fundraiser.  We are going to have the event on Thursday, December 11th, 2008 at Mr. Biggs (Kipling and Coal Mine).  Participants can come and bowl anytime that evening between 5-9 pm.  Cost per person is going to be $10 each, which includes 3 games of bowling and shoes.

This event is open to everyone in our community, so invite anyone who would like to spend an evening bowling for fun while supporting our baseball program.

Thanks,

Jeff Legault
