YOUTH BASKETBALL PLAYERS STILL NEEDED
DRSA still is in need of 3rd grade boys players.
Interested players must register online, or call the DRSA office
with any questions. To register, click on the Basketball link
above and go to the Registration tab.
The cost to play in the DRSA is $195.
Included in the price are team pictures, as well as a
players clinic (Oct. 30) conducted by the Dakota Ridge High
School boys and girls varsity coaches and their staffs.
------------
The DRSA will offer a Recreational program for players in grades
2 through 8, as well as the competitive Gold Crown program for
players in grades 6 through 8.
REC PROGRAM
The program is for boys and girls in grades 2 through 8.
The teams compete in the Jefferson County Basketball
Conference against teams from other area associations. In each
grade group, teams compete in either Recreational or Competitive
divisions. Teams will be placed in divisions by the DRSA
directors according to skill level.
There is one big change
for boys players this season.
All boys at each grade level must go through the tryout
process. (Players in 6th
through 8th grades also must designate on their
registration form if they are interested in trying out for Gold
Crown). Players will be evaluated by DRSA directors and placed
on teams according to skill level. The
philosophy and goal is to have all players compete at their
appropriate level.
For girls, only players interested in Gold Crown will have to go
through
tryouts. All other players
will be placed on teams after registration.
Practices start Nov. 1 and will be held at area elementary and
middle schools and, possibly, the Gold Crown Fieldhouse. Teams
typically practice twice a week until the league season starts
the week of Nov. 29 and at least once a week after that date.
The season runs through the end of February.
Again, the fee for the Recreational program is $195 for
registrations received by Sept. 27. There will be a $30 late fee
for registrations received after that date.
GOLD CROWN PROGRAM
For those unfamiliar with the Gold Crown program, it is
Colorado's premier competitive league for 6th, 7th
and 8th graders, both boys and girls.
Players must try out to be selected for these teams.
Click the Tryout link above for
information.
All players must have the $195 registration fee paid by Sept.
27. If selected to the Gold Crown program, players then will be
charged an additional $130 fee.
Practices for Gold Crown teams also start Nov. 1. The Gold Crown
league season does not start until after the New Year, and games
typically will be played on Saturdays and Sundays. The season
runs through early March.
